Obituary for James Leon Sauls, Jr.
James, known as “Jim”, by all of his friends, loved to serve his country and his entire career proved his love for his country and his state. A member of the Army National Guard, Jim served with the Military Police, before becoming a Richland County Corrections Officer and a Policeman for the Town of Irmo. After leaving the police department, he worked for Costner and ABC Legal. Jim was fiercely loyal to his family, friends, and country. He was a people person, very outgoing, which meant, he never met a stranger.
Growing up in Columbia, Jim attended Capital City Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Spring Valley High School and many friendships from high school continued to present day. He had a huge heart and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. If you were his friend, you had a friend to the end.
Jim loved to travel and plan trips that were best seen by riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed watching a good Sci-fi Movie, along with laughing and sharing his mischievous side when he was with his nieces. He thoroughly loved giving them a hard time. Jim had a gruff and rough looking exterior but he had a pure and gentle heart.
