Mr. Walter Thomas Dickerson Mr. Walter Thomas Dickerson (Junior) was born on January 20, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of Walter Dickerson and Ruby Dreher Dickerson. He departed this life on Monday, October 7, 2024. Mr. Dickerson was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina and graduated from Eau Claire High School, Class of 1971. He joined the Air Force , in July of 1971. After leaving service in 1975, he worked various jobs while earning an associate degree in accounting from Midlands Tech. He dedicated many years working as a Market Manager and Meat Cutter for Winn Dixie and Bi -Lo Stores. After retirement, he continued to serve in his church as an ordained Elder and Adult Sunday School Teacher at Good News Global Ministries. Mr. Dickerson gave his life to Christ in 1984 , and began a journey that would change his life completely. His most amazing testimony was being delivered from alcohol completely within 3 weeks or receiving salvation. Mr. Dickerson was a devoted husband of 48 years to his wife , Lavonne Lark Dickerson. He was an attentive father to his children and opened his home to many neighborhood kids. His home was known as the "Kool -Aid House ." His home became a place of sports, movies, and games for many of the neighborhood kids. He embodied love and taught his children the characteristics of love, raising them in the fear of God. He was known for telling his children “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." He loved playing bible trivia games with his kids and teaching them about the Word. Mr. Dickerson was known for his favorite pastime fishing. Many of his family and friends have hilarious and memorable moments to share from fishing expeditions with him. His favorite NFL sports team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed collecting Pittsburgh Steelers paraphernalia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Dickerson and Ruby Dreher Dickerson; brothers Clifton Dickerson and Anthony Dickerson. Mr. Walter Thomas Dickerson (Junior) leaves to mourn his passing : his wife, Lavonne Dickerson; sons, Rodney Jerome (Stephanie) Watkins of Greensboro, North Carolina and Walter Thomas Dickerson II of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Clarissa Latrice Dickerson of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, Larry (Martha) Dickerson and Leroy Dickerson both of Columbia, South Carolina; sisters, Barbara (James) Livingston, Theresa (Roderick) Scott, and Cathy Dickerson all of Columbia, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews , great-nieces , great-nephews , many other loving relatives , and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearl
