Obituary
Lisa Miles Goodrich, 63, of Columbia, died Monday, June 16, 2025. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of Jane Windham Miles and the late Jimmy Felton Miles, and married to Wayne Levy Goodrich and would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on June 22nd.
When Lisa and Wayne met on a singles retreat in October 1984, it was love at first sight. They were engaged seven weeks later and three weeks before Wayne left with the United States Air Force for Italy. Married six months later, on June 22, 1985, they spent their first two years of friendship and love growing closer and adventuring together in Italy. They were the best of friends who helped each other grow spiritually and emotionally.
Lisa was gentle, kind, loving, caring, and compassionate. She loved her family and every child she met. She was not always a fan of adventuring and exploring the unknown, but she loved traveling, exploring and going on adventures with her family. This South Carolina girl, who had rarely traveled outside of the state, had a lot of adventures. From the culture shock of an Italian meat market while living in Italy, to tent camping and traveling to at least 30 states, and six countries, she had quite an adventurous life. Her face would light up at the sight of any child, and children were drawn to her smile and love for them. As a mother and teacher, it was her three girls, her grandchildren, and the children she encountered who brought her the greatest joy in life.
In addition to her husband, Lisa is survived by her daughters, Sarah Hardy (Cameron), Erin Wamsley (Devin), Bethany Charles (Logan); grandchildren, Savannah, Carson, Luke, and Emma Hardy, Finley Wamsley, Levi and Liam Charles; her mother, Jane Miles; brother, Jim Miles (Kathy).
A service will be held at 3 o'clock, Sunday, June 22nd, at NewSpring Church NE, 1010 Old Two Notch Road, Elgin, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 2 o'clock. The burial will follow the service in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. People are encouraged to wear Lisa's favorite color, green, as a celebration of new life. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Memorials may be made to the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive #640, Columbia, SC 29210.
