Johnny Winkler Obituary December 5, 1989 - June 19, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Johnathan Lee 'Johnny' Winkler, a beloved son and friend, who left us on June 19, 2026. Born on December 5, 1989, in Columbia, South Carolina, Johnathan grew up to be a man of great strength and resilience.
Johnny was not just a skilled mechanic by profession, but also a passionate tinkerer by heart. He found immense joy in working with tools, repairing, and making things work. His hands, sturdy and deft, were a testament to his dedication and love for his craft. Johnny was also an avid amateur radio enthusiast, connecting with people worldwide over the airwaves. He was an avid hunter and found solace in the tranquility of casting a line into the water while fishing, appreciating the simple things in life.
Johnathan's parents, Michael Craig Winkler Sr. and Alice Arrowood Winkler, survive him. Also surviving are his brother, Michael Craig Winkler, Jr. (Kromuel Alcantara) of Blythewood; sister, Melissa Sue Spiker of Martinsburg, W.V.; maternal grandmother, Patsy Arrowood; great-aunt, Terri Cline (Burl); nieces, Alexas Spiker and Brittney Spiker; nephew, Matthew Spiker; and great-niece, Astroid Bussard; uncles and aunts, Jack Winkler, Jr., Brenda Winkler, and Mark Kyles (Jerrilyn Higdon Kyles); cousin, Preston Kyles; and his dog, Socks. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Jack Winkler, Sr. and Bessie Winkler; and uncles, John Scott Arrowood and David Arrowood.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
