Obituary of Annemarie Heilmann Schultz
Annemarie Heilmann Schultz, age 84, departed her earthly home on Sunday, April 20, 2025 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her forever home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. Visitation for friends and family will be at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the funeral.
Annemarie Schultz was born on January 9th, 1941, in Dortmund, Germany to her loving parents Erich Richard Heilmann and Maria Kiese Heilmann. On Annemarie’s 21st birthday, she left her home town to take a life changing trip to the United States of America. She first traveled to Pairs, France and then embarked on the Italian ship “Aurelia” in the French harbor town of Le Havre. The ship took nine days to reach its destination of New York City, where Annemarie first saw the Statue of Liberty at sunrise and it was an overwhelming sight which filled her with excitement and anticipation of the future. She later took the train for Penn Station to South Carolina, where she lived with a wonderful family for the main purpose of learning English.
After Annemarie gained the necessary command of the English language, she started her career at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in January 1974. She was a member of the Major Group Underwriting Department for over forty years. She made many friends while at BlueCross BlueShield and the Underwriting Department became her second family. While at work, she enjoyed working renewals; and while at home, she enjoyed working in the yard, listening to classical music and enjoyed knitting. She ultimately knitted thousands of articles that she gave as gifts to so many who still cherish them.
Surviving are her daughter, Kristina Grant Hoover (Randy) of Dallas, GA; sister, Brigitte Hildegard Muller (Hans Joachim Muller) of Twistetal, Germany, brother-in-law, Wolfram Schmitz of Menden, Germany; grandchildren, Ryan Hoover (Holly), Scott Hoover (Christy), Cayce Hoover, Blake Hoover (Katie); great-grandchildren, Oliver Hoover, Grey Hoover, Evelyn Hoover and Ronan Hoover of whom she loved so dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an older sister Margret Martha Schmitz.
Annemarie sends her gratitude and a profound thank you to her friends and neighbors for all of their help and support.
A special thanks to Life Care Center of Columbia and all the individuals there that provided her care. Also, to Kelly, Charlene, Autumn, Beverly, Kelli and Doris of Lighthouse Hospice for the special care and their friendship. And finally to Linda, Kim and Rick for their devoted friendship and always being there for her.
